StoryPotential, LLC

Jennifer Horne is the Founder and Creative Director of StoryPotential LLC, a strategic communications and marketing consultancy that helps organizations turn complex ideas into compelling stories that drive action.

With more than 15 years of experience spanning agency, nonprofit, startup, and in-house environments, Jen specializes in content strategy, brand storytelling, thought leadership, public relations, and audience engagement. She has helped organizations ranging from tech and healthcare startups to arts nonprofits unlock the power in their narratives to drive action in their target communities.

Jen holds a degree in Psychology from Northwestern University and has a particular interest in the intersection of cognition, communication, and decision-making. She also works as an actor and comedian, and can frequently be found performing around the metro area (when she’s not working on her 100+ year old home in Detroit).

If you’ve ever needed to either report on or interpret metrics (so, everyone), this session will help you clearly communicate the stories hidden in your data. Drawing from cognitive psychology, neuroscience, design theory, and behavioral economics, this session explores why some data visualizations immediately communicate insight while others confuse, overwhelm or paralyze.

No coding or data skills required. Rather than focusing on a specific tool or platform, this presentation provides practical, research-backed design and psychological principles that can be applied in Tableau, Power BI, Excel, or any other data visualization environment.
